Car is the easiest way to get here and great for exploring at your own pace. Kinlochlaich House is in Appin on the road between Oban and Fort William. The entrance is signposted beside the Police Station on the main road 300 metres north of the Port Appin junction. Look out for the Kinlochlaich Garden Centre sign.
From Glasgow drive beside Loch Lomond on A82. Continue on A82 through Crianlarich. From Edinburgh and Stirling, take M9 then A84 through Callander and A85 through Crianlarich.
Turn right at Tyndrum towards FortWilliam. At Glencoe/Ballachulish roundabout, take A828 south towards Oban. Appin is 15 miles. From Oban, Appin is 18 miles.
For visitors coming from the South on the M74, you can either continue on the new M74 extension south of Glasgow and then the M8 to Erskine Bridge to join the A82 or for those who wish to avoid Glasgow, you take the M73, M80 and M9 just past Stirling and then the A84 through Callander.
For visitors travelling by train, there is a direct overnight sleeper train from London Euston to Fort William. There are also trains from Glasgow Queen Street Station to each of Oban and Fort William. Check the rail timetables. Car hire is available in Fort William and Oban.
Buses operated by Citylink run from Glasgow and Edinburgh to both Oban and Fort William. There are between two and four buses a day between Oban and Fort William, which stops by the Police Station at the end of our drive, by request.
There are direct flights to Scotland from many European and British cities as well as some further afield. Glasgow International Airport and Inverness Airport are our closest airports but Glasgow Prestwick and Edinburgh Airport are within three hours drive. There are several car hire companies at all airports.
