There is endless exploring and adventures to be had whichever direction or mode of transport you choose. We have put together a small selection of ideas to make your holiday varied and interesting and we have included a few useful links on our Places to Visit and Activities pages.

The Gateway to the Isles and also Seafood Capital of Scotland. Ferries leave for day trips to Mull & Iona, Coll, Tiree and Colonsay as well as longer trips to Barra and the Outer Hebrides. The bay is filled with fishing boats and you will find boat trips to see seals and other wildlife. There are lots of great cafes and restaurants and of course excellent fish & chips. Oban is famous for its whisky distillery which you can take a guided tour of or why not visit McCaig's tower for some gorgeous views out over the bay and over to Mull. Oban is the nearest big town for shopping.

There are loads of hikes including Ben Nevis itself and some easier ones, the world cup downhill mountain bike track is here and loads of other activities. This is where you can board the steam train on the West Highland Line for the trip to Mallaig over the “Harry Potter” viaduct at Glenfinnan. The Caledonian Canal, joining Loch Ness to the sea down Neptune’s staircase of locks, is where you get great views of the Ben. You can also take a cable car up the mountain next to Ben Nevis for walking or mountain biking in the summer or skiing in the winter.

The world famous glen appears in countless films, tv shows and adverts is just 20 minutes away by car and hosts some of the most breath taking mountain views no matter what the weather. The area has a huge number of Munros and fabulous walks or hikes as well has skiing in the winter months.
